Herbed Turkey Burgers

Great recipe to boost up the flavor of ground turkey.

Makes 4 burgers.

  • 1 TB olive oil
  • 1/4 medium red onion, minced
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 lb. ground turkey meat (we used something around 90% lean turkey so it had a little fat and wouldn't stick to the grill or get too dry as opposed to 99% lean turkey. You can add some more olive oil to the meat too)
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup loosely packed chopped parsley
  • 1/2 TB minced fresh rosemary
  • 1/2 TB minced fresh sage
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped

  1. Saute the chopped onion in olive oil over medium-high heat for 3 minutes.
  2. Add the garlic and saute for another 2 minutes, until it begins to brown. Remove from heat. Transfer the garlic/onion/olive oil mixture into a large bowl to cool.
  3. Once it's cooled off, add the ground turkey, salt, pepper, and herbs to the bowl. Using your hands, gently mix everything together until well combined, without over-mixing the meat.
  4. Form the meat into 4 patties.
  5. Cook on a hot grill or cast iron frying pan for 5-6 minutes each side or until cooked through (165°F). TO prevent sticking, brush vegetable oil on the racks of the grill or bottom of cast iron skillet.
  6. Serve with toasted whole wheat buns and top with lettuce, tomatoes, sliced onions, mustard, ketchup, etc.
